Ok, so the design is a bit underwhelming BUT I stand by the headline. Bringing together the 80s setting of the movie, the title song AND being direct enough to satisfy the notoriously CTA-hungry CRM team? Celestial events happen more frequently.

Fun fact: There’s a song in the credits to Space Jam with Bugs Bunny rapping. That song was ghostwritten by none other than Jay-Z. That blows my mind considering this would have been when Jay-Z had just released his debut, Reasonable Doubt – which is widely considered one of the best rap albums of all time. And if you listen to Bugs, you can hear flows which sound exactly like Jay’s stuff at the time.

But this email? No ghostwriters here – just me.

This was for a newsletter encouraging NOW Members to watch Game of Thrones before the prequel came out. As a fan, I wanted to write ‘Don’t worry, I’m sure the new series can’t be as bad as the last season of Game of Thrones’ but HBO weren’t keen.

Is this ‘left, right, left, right’ business with the images getting tiring yet? Yes? Well it’s nearly over.

I figured I’d include a screenshot from Figma to show that I’m able to work with design teams. Also, note the intrigue in subject line and the detail snippet at the top of the image. Bit of wordplay in the headline. Job’s a good’un.

Again, this headline was all about balancing the premium tone of voice as a more exclusive membership streaming service and sound knowledgable, whilst also trying to drive conversion. Mmmmm.
